Safeward
We all feel a little unsafe at times. While there are several emergency response apps available on the App Store (ranging widely in usability), none of them leverage an important functionality: non-emergency responses. Not every unsafe situation needs to end with police involvement. I was hired to create a simple and effective emergency response app with the ability to trigger both emergency and non-emergency responses.
After conducting interviews, I was able to synthesize a few key insights that drove the design:
The root of fear in a lot of emergency situations is the element of surprise. It triggers a fight or flight reaction.
Not all emergency situations are physically-threatening.
Not all emergency situations need police involvement.
No single product on the market answer these needs and provide a comprehensive enough feature set. Safeward is the simple and safe way to react to any potentially unsafe situation.
