This project started out as an exploration of handheld forms, a design challenge from one of my professors. I took clay and foam and began to mold, carve, hack, and turn on the lathe. After ideating and refining, I found a form that I liked; something that just asked to be picked up and handled. I then took that form and developed a product from it: the Phillips Spin, a remote controller for Phillips Hue lighting. It was a great exploration in matching function to form. The Spin turned out to be a very compelling product by using a form-first process. Someone even tried to find it online to purchase it after I shared it on social media!
