Solosuit

More than 330,000 debt collection lawsuits have been filed in Utah over the past 5 years. 98% of those sued don't hire an attorney, and the majority of them don't even respond, causing them to default. Brigham Young University put together a team of 9 law students to come up with a legal tech solution for this problem. I was hired as the design consultant for this project and managed the visual design, information architecture, and user experience of SoloSuit – an automated debt-collection lawsuit response system.

SoloSuit walks the user through a series of questions, referencing the Summons and Complaint sent to them by the attorney. After answering these questions, the user is given a fully populated legal document and instruction as to what to do next. The most interesting (and rewarding) challenge of the product was to try and bridge the gap between the legal system and the product's dominant user group.

We are very excited about how well SoloSuit has been received and the difference it will make in people's lives. After a successful launch in Utah, the product will be replicated and implemented in the Alaska and Arizona court systems.
